“Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth! Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.”
Psalm: 96:1-2
God’s encouragement…
When we walk in His creation, we walk with God.
God gloriously reveals Himself to us through His creation in springtime, using our senses. The warmth of the sun envelops us through our sense of touch. Our sight is filled with colorful blossoms, sailboat clouds floating across a deep blue sky, trees shimmering pale green, as leaves slowly unfurl. Bees stop on flower after flower to drink the nectar that becomes honey, as they pollinate every kind of fruit tree, vegetable and grain. We are later fed by their ripened bounty and our sense of taste is delighted. The aroma of the earth, released from the frozen grayness of winter, smells almost as good as the lilac and apple blossoms.
Yet it is the SOUNDS of spring that delight me most of all. My favorite sound is the songs of birds. Each one lifts my spirits as my eyes seek out the joyful singer, high up in the tree tops. Springtime is heralded through each song, “A new day has dawned! Join in my song of celebration!” Their call is irresistible.
The renewal and rejuvenation displayed so abundantly in springtime is an all-encompassing witness to our own salvation. In John 10:9-10, Jesus tells us that He is the door we enter through to be saved, bringing us to abundant life. Through Jesus, we find our own springtime transformation because of who He is, the Son of God. Taking a walk on a warm spring day allows us to immerse ourselves in the truth of our salvation through Him. A salvation shown so clearly through creation. A salvation offered to all who enter through the door that Jesus provides.
