“It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to bring back the preserved of Israel; I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”
Isaiah 49:6
God’s encouragement…
As Easter morning dawns, remembering the full scope of God’s plan of redemption is a joy-filled undertaking. In this passage from Isaiah, it is crystal clear that God intends for His salvation to reach to the end of the earth. Jesus comes to be a light for all of us, not a subset of us! It doesn’t matter what we call the nations or how we organize them. It doesn’t matter how borders or alliances change over time. Where we are doesn’t matter because Jesus brings God’s saving grace to ALL nations.
Everyone on earth receives His invitation to receive salvation through God’s light—Jesus Christ. Everyone on earth is invited to make Jesus their light. When we do, we are to carry His invitation in our hearts and proclaim it with our voices and actions everywhere, every day. This invitation carries with it the power to transform lives, neighborhoods, communities, cities, states, and nations. It has this power to transform because it originates from God, the Creator of all that is.
Saying yes to the light of the world (John 8:12) is the beginning of a miraculous relationship with God through Jesus His Son. We respond by praising and honoring Him with our lives, to bring Him glory. We live our lives full of thanksgiving for who He is and what He has done for us. He Is Risen; He Is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!
