Robin’s Journey: The season I was Welcomed home and God’s Transforming work began

“When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.”

This brings me full circle, back to the beginning when my parents baptized me and I became part of God’s family. The difference is that I am no longer a child, relying solely on others to teach me. Because of Jesus, I am a child of God, guided by His Holy Spirit and taught through His word every day.

The beginning of my transformation…

Three passages of scripture encouraged me greatly in the beginning, giving me an understanding of how God’s word teaches and transforms us. I’ve written a post that pertains to each that goes deeper into why it impacted me so much.

The first scripture encouragement was given to me as part of the membership class Tom and I took at our first church home (“Why, Jesus?”). I needed to understand that, through Jesus, God comes down to us to save us. The second encouragement came through a sermon given by our Pastor at that church (“Butterfly Wings”). It taught me that I needed to look to God to “show me the way I should go.” This was followed by God’s encouragement to me from Psalm 40 (“Higher Ground”). It assured me that I was understood by God and He would guide me step-by-step.
