“The Gift of a Thankful Heart”

Thankful hearts bless us
and allow us to receive
all the Father’s gifts!

“In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God.”

John 1:1

God’s encouragement…

The thankfulness I have for God’s word is immeasurable. Through it I have learned about His grace, mercy and unconditional love. This knowledge brings fullness of joy and a deep and profound peace.

Jesus is the Word incarnate—Emmanuel—God with us. With the season of advent about to begin, we rejoice that through Jesus His Son, God shows us how great and complete His love is. Jesus opened the kingdom of God in person during his earthly ministry. Then, after his arrest, trial, crucifixion, resurrection and ascension, He sent the Holy Spirit of God to be our Helper. It is this indwelling Holy Spirit, sent by Jesus to all who receive Him as their Savior, who opens the scriptures to us today. God reveals himself to us through His Word!

We increase our thankfulness and build-up and guard our faith when we follow the wisdom shared in Philippians 4:8. This passage tells us what we are to think about: things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent and worthy of praise. When we think on these things, our thankfulness to God will grow each day. Amen!
